The Pioneer Woman Museum welcomes Ponca City residents and our surrounding neighbors near and far for a Holiday Happening on Saturday December 14, 2013. The museum will be open 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with refreshments, craft demonstrations and holiday shopping.
The Pioneer Woman Museum Gift Shop sells the work of artisans from the area in their consignment program. The work featured includes hand crafted jewelry, dichroic glass plates and bowls, 2-D artwork and hand carved and painted gourds with hand laid turquoise. Artists in the gift shop include Betty Biederman, Shirley Foxworthy, Ann Powell, Kitty McGinnis, Lorraine McDonagh all from Ponca City and Judy Morrison, Arkansas City, Sharon Duvall, Bartlesville, Audrey Schmitz, Tonkawa, Judy Kelly, Oklahoma City and Carlene C. Wallace, Tulsa. The work of each artist is selected for quality and skill level with an eye on profitability. The consignment program is designed to provide each artist with a retail setting and an opportunity for both the artists and the museum to profit from the exchange.
Pioneer Woman Museum director Robbin Davis said, “The Pioneer Woman Museum is proud to work with each artist and considers it an honor to be able to provide them with an opportunity to get their work in front of the general public. Every artist should be able to do the work that they love and make a fair profit. Our consignment program is designed such that they can do just that. The Holiday Happening will be a time for us to invite the public in to not only see the recent museum renovation but to also enjoy the spirit of the holidays together, see some of the artists at work and learn a little bit about how they make their artwork.”
The Pioneer Woman Museum Holiday Happening will provide an exceptional opportunity to the gift buying public to select works of art and other items at the museum shop, enjoy festive refreshments, view the newly renovated museum and to buy local on Saturday, December 14!
