The Oklahoma History Center presents The Harvey Girls: Opportunity Bound on Saturday March 15 beginning at 2 p.m. This hour-long documentary will highlight Fred Harvey’s iconic waitresses who changed the West and the role of women in the workplace. The film will be followed by a discussion on Harvey Houses in Oklahoma and the restoration of Waynoka’s Harvey House. Speakers include Dr. Suzzanne Kelly, writer of the Harvey Girls entry in the Oklahoma Encyclopedia of History and Culture, and Sandie Olsen, Director of the historic Harvey House in Waynoka, OK. The event will run from 2 to 4 p.m. and admission is free. All ages are welcome and registration is not required.
