The Wall That Heals opening ceremony, Oklahoma History Center

November 9, 2017, 11 a.m.12:30 p.m.

Event Navigation

On Thursday, November 9, at 11 am the Oklahoma History Center will host an opening ceremony for The Wall That Heals. The 145th Oklahoma National Guard Band will provide music for the event, and Rear Admiral Greg Slavonic (USN Ret.), chief of staff for Senator James Lankford, will be the featured speaker. This ceremony is free and open to the public.

The Wall That Heals is a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. It is approximately 250 feet in length and lists the names of the more than 58,000 men and women killed in the war. The names are arranged chronologically by date of casualty, so that those who died together may be forever linked. The Wall That Heals and its accompanying mobile Education Center will be open to the public 24 hours a day beginning 7 pm on Wednesday, November 8, through Sunday, November 12, at 12 pm. This will be the first time that it has been exhibited in the State Capitol Complex. Please call 405-522-0765 for more information.
