Carved in Stone: the Meaning of Gravestone Graphics

Join us at the Oklahoma History Center as we explore the meaning behind historic gravestones on Saturday, October 26. Gravestones and cemeteries are rich in a language of symbols. Those symbols can be difficult to interpret because of changes in meaning over time. By examining grave markers one can learn more than just the person’s name. This class will provide the skills necessary to investigate the past through tombstones.

The class will run from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM and is free with admission. Registration is required. For more information on the class or to register, please contact us at education@okhistory.org or by phone at (405) 522-3602.
