Smoke Over Oklahoma: The Railroad Photographs of Preston George exhibit opening and program, Oklahoma History Center

April 10, 2017, 5:30 p.m.8 p.m.

Event Navigation

On April 10, join us as we celebrate the work of Preston George and the historical importance of railroads with a special program at the Oklahoma History Center.

This event will include the opening of a new photographic exhibit entitled Smoke Over Oklahoma: The Railroad Photographs of Preston George. The twenty-five images displayed feature a number of railroad lines that passed through Oklahoma, such as the Katy and the Frisco, and the heavier duty locomotives of the Kansas City Southern and the Santa Fe lines. The exhibit also will feature images of various metro lines and trolleys.

These images are featured in a recent book by the same title, Smoke Over Oklahoma: the Railroad Photographs of Preston George. A book signing with author Augustus J. Veenendaal Jr. is scheduled during the exhibit opening. Doors will open at 5 pm and the program begins at 5:30 pm followed by a reception and book signing from 6 to 8 pm.
