“Spring Gardening” Second Saturday Demo

Visit Fort Towson Historic Site on Saturday, March 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. for the “Spring Gardening” Second Saturday Demo. This educational event will feature historical information about the three main gardens at Fort Towson from 1824 to 1854: the officer’s garden, hospital garden, and the company garden. Attendees will learn why certain fruits and vegetables were chosen and how they were grown without the use of commercial chemicals. The educational garden also will be planted at this time and volunteers are welcome to help! Staff will be available throughout the day to answer questions. All activities are free and open to the public.
