History of City Federation
A HISTORY OF THE CITY FEDERATION OF OKLAHOMA CITY OKLAHOMA.
By Mrs. MacGregor Douglas.
A greeting to the City Federation of 2013 from the City Federation of 1913. In the eager crowd surrounding the opening of this chest, we hope the City Federation ranks high, and the writer of this – The First Historian of the City Federation sends greeting to successor of One Hundred Years.
The Officers for 1912 and 1913 are as follows:
THE OKLAHOMA CITY TIMES
OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA MARCH 22, 1913.

Easter Edition, Oklahoma City Federation of Women's Clubs
Greetings From the National President
Austin, Texas, Feb. 26, 1913.

Greetings:-
I congratulate the women of Oklahoma City on the East edition that they are preparing to enable them to carry on more advantageously their altruistic work. Accept my most cordial greeting and allow me to hope that a large delegation of Oklahoma women will attend the council in Washington on April 21st to 24th.

We are promised a delightful program filled with the practical discussion of live subjects. At this council meeting the roll of state will be called and the last report given as to the collection of the endowment fund. It will be most pleasing if my neighbor, Oklahoma, stands in the honor roll. There is little time to be lost, so I beg that you turn every effort in this direction.

Before selecting your work for next year, I earnestly suggest that you examine a booklet the General Fedration has just issued, setting forth under one cover, the work of all the departments as planned for the next eighteen months. This booklet may be obtained from Mrs. Mary I. Wood, Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

With every good wish, I am cordially yours,
MRS. PERCY V. PENNYBACKER,
President National Federation of Women's Clubs.

From the City Federation President

The club women of Oklahoma City through this issue wish to draw the club women of the state nearer to each other. It is in the power of these women to make our state what its natural resources demand that it should be, the first state in the union.

Let us rise above self-seeking, and stand for the things that are worth while in the development and advancement of our state. We hope that the establishment of our "Club Woman's Information Bureau" and the "Better Babies" contest to be held in connection with our State Fair in the fall will be two big steps toward accomplishing what it is possible for the women of Oklahoma to do.

When we look back over the past ten years and see what our City Federation has accomplished, we feel inspired to go on to greater things, and with the united efforts of the club women of the state there is almost nothing we cannot do. We have but to look about us to realize this is the age of woman. Let our work speak for itself.

There is no honor in being elected to a high office or position, the honor alone lies in the use we make of our opportunities. There is no impediment that cannot be overcome, no hindrance to usefulness than cannot be removed. If we fail and our work is weak and ineffective the fault is neither with our endowment or environment-it is with ourselves. When we set ourselves to accomplish big things man cannot interrupt us, and God will not.

Let us be true to ourselves and be an inspiration, strength and blessing to those whose lives are touched by ours.

MRS. WESTON ATWOOD.

Greetings From The Editorial Committee

THIS, the twentieth century, is an age of organization. Never has the old adage, "In union there is strength," been more strongly exemplified than in the union of women in club life which is a standing proof of the strength derived from a united effort for the betterment of the home and city.

The Oklahoma City Federation of Women's Clubs was called into being by the need of a central organization to take the initiative along the lines of city work in which the clubs wished to co-operate, and the organization has been of incalculable value from the day of its birth in this wonderful city until its latest venture, that of editing an Easter edition of The Oklahoma City Times.

It affords us great pleasure to speak a word of sincere appreciation to the many contributors to whom we are so deeply indebted. We wish to extend heartiest thanks to all the clubs both in the city and in the state for their co-operation. Also to all who have so graciously assisted in the issuance of the paper, whether in the way of publication or advertisements.

If every desire of the contributors has not been realized, it has not been by lack of kindly personal interest, on the part of every member of the Oklahoma City Times staff, who smiled indulgently over our big aspirations, and consoled us with kindly words when they failed to materialize. We wish to especially commend the untiring assistance rendered by the entire newspaper force.

And, now, the Woman's Easter Edition of The Times is published and the literary and business aims of its editors and managers are realized, let us turn our attention to the development of plans promulgated; let us keep alive the fires of enthusiasm that have been kindled and let us build upon this plendid foundation, a more beautiful city and a greater state.
