Hoffman, Joseph

Joseph W. Hoffman, Musician First Class, was the first Ross Countian who gave his life for his country at the beginning of World War II. Joseph was the son of Lloyd and Donna Wornstaff Hoffman, born to them on September 3, 1917. A graduate of Chillicothe High School in 1936, he entered the US Navy shortly thereafter. When American Legion Post 757 was chartered, it was decided to name the Post in honor of him, who gave his life for the country he loved so we could continue to be the land of the free. May his soul rest in peace.
