U.S.S. Oklahoma

Casto, Charles

The US navy department's terse notice, "missing in action," shrouded the fate of these East Liverpool brothers who were serving on a battleship in Pear Harbor, Hawaii, when the Japanese bombed the big U.S. bas Dec. 7. At left is Richard Casto, 19, and right, Charles Casto, 21, grandsons of Mrs. Alice Eddy of Lincoln Ave., who has not given up hope. This is the closest the tragedy of war has struck here, as more parents today received word from other East Liverpool boys in that Pacific base.
