"Leslie and Lester Delles were twins, enlisting in 1939, boarding ship that same year. Lester, his twin brother, left ship (on Dec. 3, 1941) to get schooling in movie projection...or he would have been on board at the time. Leslie was to go to the same school in in about a week. From what I was lead to believe, Leslie was in the engine room where the torpedo struck. It was a long time before my folks were let known that he had been killed. As my mother said when the Oakie was righted and looking to rejoin the fleet, What a justice to know the Oklahoma turned over in a storm before hitting Bremerton, Washington for repairs."
