Travelin' in a Wagon
Picture riding in this wagon above on slow-moving, bumpy travels. This particular wagon was used by Lew Carroll's family in two land runs. They ran twice because they were not able to get any land the first time they tried. This was because there were more people who wanted land than there was land available.
Wagons like this one were used on the roads that are on the map below, Important Routes and Trails. This kind of wagon was used to move most of what a family owned. Just about all of their belongings would have to fit into a space of 99.6 cubic feet. As you look at the wagon, picture it filled from the floor of the wagon to two feet above the sides of the box. Could your family put most of what you own into this wagon?
