OHS Statewide Museums, Sites & Affiliates
Museums
- Oklahoma History Center - Oklahoma City. OHC is a learning center exploring Oklahoma’s unique history of geology, transportation, commerce, culture, aviation, heritage and more. The Research Center offers numerous resources for genealogical and historical research.
- Pioneer Woman Museum - Ponca City. The museum is dedicated to the enduring spirit of women who see no boundaries.
- Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center- Enid. The Center will open in the spring of 2009 and will feature all new exhibits.
- Cherokee Strip Museum - Perry. This museum explores the Cherokee Outlet, site of the largest land run.
- Chisholm Trail Museum - Kingfisher. Once the greatest cow trail in the world, the Chisholm Trail provided a way to more Texas cattle north to the Kansas railheads, where they were shipped to other areas.
- State Capital Publishing Museum - Guthrie. Museum exhibits include the history of the State Capital Company, printing technology and other aspects of life from the territorial and early statehood era.
- Oklahoma Territorial Museum - Guthrie. The Museum tells the story of the determined people who laid the foundation for the future state of Oklahoma.
- Oklahoma Route 66 Museum - Clinton. Experience the history and culture of each decade concerning road construction, transportation, lodging, restaurants, garages, curio shops, attractions, and other artifacts, graphics, videos, and more.
- Museum of the Western Prairie - Altus. The Museum of the Western Prairie tells the story of Southwest Oklahoma, from the distant past to the present day. (Note: The Museum is temporarily closed for remodeling & repair.)
- Spiro Mounds Museum - Spiro. This archaeological site includes the remains of a village and eleven earthen mounds.
Historic Homes
- T. B. Ferguson Home - Watonga. Former home of Oklahoma's sixth territorial governor.
- Sod House Museum - Aline. 1894 sod house built by Marshal McCully.
- A. J. Seay Manision - Kingfisher. Former home of Oklahoma's second territorial governor.
- Pawnee Bill Ranch - Pawnee. Historic home, barn, and log cabin of famous Wild West showman Pawnee Bill.
- Fred Drummond Home - Hominy. 1905 Victorian home of trader, rancher and buisnessman Frank Drummond.
- Frank Phillips Home - Bartlesville. Neo-classical home of oilman Frank Phillips.
- George M. Murrell Home - Park Hill. Greek-revival style house of plantation owner George M. Murell.
- Sequoyah's Cabin - Sallisaw. 1829 log cabin of Sequoyah, inventor of the Cherokee alphabet.
- Peter Conser Home - Heavener. Former home of Peter Conser, a member of the Lighthorse and senator to the Choctaw Council.
Military Sites
- Fort Supply - Fort Supply. This site includes five remaining original structures. "Cavalry Day" is held annually in September, featuring costumed interpreters portraying military life on the frontier.
- Fort Gibson - Fort Gibson. Built in 1824, Fort Gibson served as a staging area for several military expeditions which explored the west and sought peace between the tribes of the region.
- Honey Springs Battlefield - Checotah. Site of the Battle of Honey Springs, the climatic engagement of the Civil War in Indian Territory fought on July 17, 1863
- Fort Washita - Durant. Fort Washita was established in 1842 to protect the Chickasaw and Choctaw tribes from the Plains Indians.
- Fort Towson - Fort Towson. Fort Towson was established in 1824 in response to a need to quell conflicts between lawless elements, American Indian peoples, and settlers.

- No Man's Land Museum - Goodwell. This museum chronicles the struggles of the settlers as they established government and developed communities.
- Henry Overholser Home - Oklahoma City. 1903 French Chateau-style home of civic leader Henry Overholser.
- Healdton Oil Museum - Healdton. This museum tells the story of oil development in Carter County and life in the bustling oil boomtowns.
- Jim Thorpe Home - Yale. The 1912 home of celebrated athlete & Olympian Jim Thorpe.
- Tom Mix Museum - Dewey. This museum is dedicated to legendary western film star, writer, director & producer Tom Mix.
