La Homa Lake predated Quartz Mountain as a recreational area on the North Fork of the Red River. A note on the photo reads reads, "Two hundred thirty foot dam--one-quarter acre fish hatchery--one-half mile mountain drive--seventeen miles northeast of Altus, Oklahoma--five acres of water, twenty to thirty feet deep.
