Oklahoma Historical Society. Visit our parent organization and some of the other OHS museums and sites around the state.

Oklahoma Museums Association. OMA, a non-profit membership organization supporting museums and related institutions in Oklahoma.

Altus Air Force Base. Explore the history of the military installation that began as "Altus Army Air Field" during World War II.

Quartz Mountain Nature Park. Quartz Mountain is the highest peak in the western reaches of the Wichita Mountains. The area is home to the Quartz Mountain Arts and Conference Center (a state lodge) and the Quartz Mountain Nature Park.

Western Trails Genealogical Society. Although WTGS is no longer active there is a wealth of information on these pages, including links to other sources.

Friendship, Oklahoma. Visit the "Friendship History Group" site to see how former residents have worked to preserve the history of their community.

Old Greer County. An excellent resource for information about Old Greer County, the precursor of present-day Greer, Beckham, Jackson, and Harmon counties.

Kiowa County. A different history than that of Old Greer County, but closely related.

Frank Lugert. Read about Frank Lugert, who established the town that is today beneath Lake Altus.

Oklahoma Arts Institute. Both the Summer Arts Institute and the Fall Arts Institute programs utilize the Quartz Mountain Arts and Conference Center, seventeen miles north of Altus.

Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. A national wildlife refuge twenty-five miles northwest of Lawton. Set aside almost one hundred years ago, the refuge is as-close to a pristine environment as can be found in Southwest Oklahoma. The Visitor Center at the refuge is a 22,000 square foot facility with excellent natural history exhibits.

Museum of the Great Plains. Although, thematically, the Museum of the Great Plains and the Museum of the Western Prairie have much in common, each is unique. Don't miss this museum if you are visiting Lawton!

Fort Sill Museum. Ft Sill, an U S Army post in Lawton OK, began as Camp Radziminski about 1858. The camp had several locations, including one near present-day Tom Steed Lake in Kiowa County, and near Tipton OK in Tillman Co.

Chisholm Trail Museum. Located in Duncan OK, the On the Chisholm Trail Statue and Museum is dedicated to another of the great cattle trails.
