Educational Programs

The Oklahoma Territorial Museum and the State Capital Publishing Museum are proud to offer educational programs for classes. All monies collected from programming are used to maintain current programming and develop new programs to meet the future needs.

Guided Tours

A standard tour of each facility is available free of charge. This tour will include an introduction to the museum, overview of the galleries and an opportunity for a question and answer session with a museum staff member. Time requirement - 1 hour.

Oklahoma or Bust

This program is designed to educate grade school students on the experiences, difficulties, and choices faced by the Oklahoma pioneers. Students personally experience the disappointments and triumphs of the land run experience through a fun, fast-paced interactive board game, played by groups of up to 40 students.

Tear, Turnips and Triumphs

This living history program follows events of the 1889 Land Run through the eyes of the women who were there. A museum staff members tells the story of the land run in costume and character.

Kate Barnard: Oklahoma’s Progressive Angel

This living history program follows the events leading up the Oklahoma’s statehood. Learn about the issues and events of the time through the eyes of Oklahoma’s first female elected office holder. A museum staff member tells the story in costume and character.
Time requirement: 1 ˝ hours
Grades: K-8 and Adults
Size limit: 70 students
Cost: $1 per participant - Reservations are Required.
