Oklahoma Historical Society Announces Winners in Student Nature Photo Contest

The winners have been announced in the Oklahoma Historical Society nature photography contest. The subject of the contest was “Field, Forest and Stream” the same as the title of the new special exhibit that opened April 4, 2008 at the Oklahoma History Center, 2401 N. Laird Avenue, Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma Historical Society received more than 260 entries in the contest.

The winners, listed by the three age groups are:
9-12 Grade Winners
1st Laura Nauman, age 17, Oklahoma City
2nd Lacey Barker, age 16, Waynoka
3rd Rachel Matthews, age 14, Moore

6-8 Grade Winners
1st Keaton Garland, age 14, Glenpool
2nd Austin Boyd, age 14, Glenpool
3rd Jessi Hamill, age 14, Adair

1-5 Grade Winners
1st Creighton Ellis, age 11, Sallisaw
2nd Annie Bragg, age 8, Norman
3rd Destiny Slemp, age 8, Gracemont

The contest was held in conjunction with the special exhibit “Field, Forest and Stream” that celebrates our state’s rich outdoor heritage. The exhibit relates the history of hunting, fishing, outdoor recreation and conservation in Oklahoma utilizing artifacts, dynamic graphics, audio-visual elements and hands-on interactives. It opened on April 4 2008 in the Gaylord Special Exhibits Gallery.
