Oklahoma History Center Presents Special Film Program This Saturday

The Oklahoma History Center's Research Division is presenting a summer film program focused on the Miller Brothers 101 Ranch. The Oklahoma History Center is located at 800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive, just east of the State Capitol on NE 23rd Street. Admission to the film program is free and no registration is required.

Saturday July 18 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm in the Chesapeake Event Center Admission to this event is FREE!
1:00 - "Bank Robbery" the first film shot in Oklahoma was this 1908 silent film produced by Deputy U.S. Marshal Bill Tilghman. The film was shot at Cache, Oklahoma.
1:40 - Al Ritter, Vice President of the 101 Ranch Old Timers Association of Ponca City, will provide a 20-30 presentation on the history of the Miller Brothers 101 Ranch.
2:15 - View a film shot at the 101 Ranch in 1912 by Reliance Films. The film is about 25 minutes.
2:45 - there will be a brief intermission.
3:00 - View a documentary about the 101 Ranch produced by WKY-TV in the 1960s.
The films are silent, but will have musical accompaniment much as they were seen in the early 1900's at movie houses.
The WKY-TV documentary is one of the first produced by their documentary unit around 1958. It is the first of several documentaries produced by WKY-TV (now KFOR-TV) for which the station won numerous awards.
