WHAT: Announcement of the ten finalists for the Official Rock 'n Roll Song of Oklahoma.
WHEN: Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008 at 2:30 p.m.
WHERE: Chesapeake Event Center at the Oklahoma History Center, 2401 N. Laird Avenue
WHO: The announcement will be made by our selection committee consisting of Dr. Hugh Foley of Rogers State University, Angie DeVore of DFEST Music Festival, Lacey Lett of The Buzz and OklaTravelNews, Steve Ripley of The Tractors, Ronnie Kaye of KOMA and Ryan LaCroix of Oklahomarock.com. Also serving on the committee but unable to be in attendance is Phil Bacharach of Governor Brad Henry's staff.
The bill authors Senator John Ford and Representative Joe Dorman will be present. Lt. Gov. Jari Askins and Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department Executive Director Hardy Watkins have also been invited.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Following the announcement the committee members will be available to comment on the selections and reasons why the particular songs were selected.
The ten songs will be listed on the special web site used to gather the original nominations, www.oklahomarocksong.org, with final voting running through November 15th.
The Oklahoma History Center will celebrate the state's rock and roll heritage with an exhibit entitled "Another Hot Oklahoma Night," slated to open May 2, 2009.
