The Oklahoma History Center presents the American music of the Colonial, Revolutionary, and Federal periods Wednesday, October 21, 2009 with David Hildebrand. For this concert America's early music and history come to life with instruments including the Baroque guitar, English guitar, harpsichord, and English and German flutes.
Admission to the program is free and made available through a special partnership with George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens and the Oklahoma George Washington Teaching Ambassador Program.
Doors open at 6:00pm and the concert begins at 7:00pm. This program is free and open to the public.
Free Teacher Workshop 4:00pm to 5:30pm
The Oklahoma History Center and George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens invite Oklahoma teachers to a special afternoon workshop. Join David Hildebrand, a leading musical historian, and explore the music of the colonial and revolutionary periods. This workshop will discuss songs of patriotism, revolution, and military exploits that will help you bring history to life for your students.
Teachers are invited to stay for the free evening program.
Free School Program October 21 & 22
The Oklahoma History Center, George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens, and the George Washington Oklahoma Teaching Ambassador Program invite students to a special program featuring the music of George Washington's America.
The program will bring America's early music to life and target students of all ages, especially 4th and 5th graders. Spoken introductions and stories will put the music and instruments into context, while highlighting connections to great people and moments in our nation's early history.
