In conjunction with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation and the Field, Forest & Steam Exhibit at the Oklahoma History Center, there is a display with this year's submissions for the Oklahoma Waterfowl Stamp Contest. The Oklahoma History Center is located at 2401 N. Laird Avenue, j ust east of the State Capitol on NE 23rd Street. The History Center is open Monday thru Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from Noon to 5:00 p.m.
Each year the ODWC holds a contest with a selected theme to determine the image on the next year's waterfowl stamp that hunters of migratory waterfowl must purchase in order to hunt in Oklahoma. This year's theme was the Gadwall. There were 19 submissions total. This display gives History Center visitors a chance to vote for their favorite submission.
The final selection will be made by ODWC staff from the top three finalists from the votes obtained here. The display will be up through December with a final selection made in early January.
The Field, Forest and Stream exhibit focuses on the history of hunting, fishing and camping in Oklahoma. The exhibit features, among other things, the first prototype Zebco spinning reel, artifacts from Wiley Posts hunting and fishing collection, and the story of wildlife conservation that began in the territory before statehood.
