The Chronicles of Oklahoma Online
The Oklahoma Historical Society and the Oklahoma State University Library Electronic Publishing Center are pleased to announce a joint project to digitize and make available on the web the Society’s quarterly journal, The Chronicles of Oklahoma, in a full-text, searchable database with links to tables, figures, photographs, maps, and other material.
Phase I of the project covers volumes 1-40 (1921-1962) of The Chronicles, many of which are out of print and no longer available in print form. This project will benefit the students of Oklahoma history who need access to those early and missing issues. To determine which issues are still in print and available for purchase, go to Back Issues for Sale.
Subsequent phases of the project will include the tables of contents for volumes 21 through current issues, with links to OHS sales contacts for the purchase of back issues. Eventually, the project will include digitizing additional volumes of The Chronicles.
To access volumes 1-20 at no cost, go to http://digital.library.okstate.edu/Chronicles/index.html and follow the links.
Oklahoma Periodicals Index
Limited issues of The Chronicles of Oklahoma are now indexed as part of the Oklahoma Periodicals Index. The citations are available through the Oklahoma State University Library's homepage.
Issues of The Chronicles for 2000 onward are fully indexed with keywords and subject headings. In the summer of 2002, retrospective issues beginning with 1999 also were entered. Keywords and subject headings will be added to these issues gradually.
Other periodicals included in the Oklahoma Periodicals Index are Oklahoma Today, Outdoor Oklahoma, and Persimmon Hill.
