E. D. Oldfield

Edward Dewes Oldfield was born in Schermerville (now Northbrook), Illinois, on March 5, 1875. After earning a law degree in Chicago, he came to Oklahoma Territory in September 1905 and set up a practice. In 1907, he was elected Justice of the Peace in Oklahoma County. He was elected Superior Court Judge in 1910 and to the District Court Bench (13th. District) in 1914 and 1918. In 1922, he was assigned to preside during the Ouster Proceeding of Carter County Sheriff Buck Garrett. In 1922 and 1924, he ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the Oklahoma Supreme Court and unsuccessfully sought another term as District Judge in 1928 and 1930. He returned to private practice in 1923 and died in Oklahoma City on April 21, 1946.
