Edward Prenter Adams (1874-1950) was born in Rusk Co., TX. He moved to Hollis in 1911 where he lived at first in a dugout. He was a teacher. Edward was married to Rexie Udora Paine (1881-1966). Their children were: Jewel, Erby Edward, Martin, Opal, Oswald, Jack and Joe Frank. Edward owned and managed the Adams Cotton Gin. Rexie was a midwife. Known for their generosity, Edward and Rexie were involved with the First Methodist Church in Hollis which was founded in 1901.
