Monogrammed Brick Stories

Johnson & Bond Families

Submitted by Catherine Wootten

This is the story of two families, one a Chickasaw family who came to Indian Territory in 1837 on their own trail of tears from their MS homeland. The other family were English immigrant cattlemen, who brought improved stock to the Territory after the Civil War, specifically Red Durham. The Johnson & Bond families married and became leading citizens of the newly formed state. This patio follows 5 tracks. 1) their enduring faith in God 2) their love for family 3) their appetite for education 4) their diligence to achieve 5) their love to contribute. This patio follows in spirit the cattle trail from the Red River to the Kansas border.
