Submitted by David Busby

Orel Busby (1889–1965) arrived in Allen, Indian Territory, in a wagon, from his birthplace in Arkansas. The family moved to Konawa, where he taught in a one-room school, and, at 20, was elected "The Youngest Mayor in the USA." A member of the first graduating class of East Central University, he graduated from OU Law School and later served on the OU Board of Regents. He served as judge on the County and District Courts, and as a Justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court. He was elected President of the Oklahoma Historical Society and the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. He was listed in "Who's Who in America."
