Monogrammed Brick Stories

Howard Eugene Cooley, Frances McLean Cooley

Submitted by Ruth Ellen Cooley Edger

My father, Howard Cooley, was born May 21, 1915, on a farm near Kaw City, Oklahoma. He was the son of Douglas Cooley, who emigrated to OK before statehood to pursue his dream of becoming a "cowboy," and Hannah, daughter of a German farm family. My mother, Frances Cooley, was born April 8, 1916, in Ardmore, OK. Her mother, Elsie Adams McLean, emigrated to Oklahoma Territory with her parents who opened a store in Chandler. Her father, Frank O. Mclean, was also of Chandler from a family originally from Pennsylvania.
