The Research book collection includes over 85,000 bound volumes containing valuable historical and genealogical information on a variety of topics.

State & County Histories

Book collections include materials pertaining to every state in the US. While researchers can browse state histories on the shelves, remember to use the catalog to find materials that may be stored in other areas.

County histories contain information about the events that shaped a region's history, and often include valuable information about early settlers, cemeteries, schools, churches and other topics.

Family Histories

The Research Center’s collection includes over 2,000 family histories donated by various individuals and organizations. Many of these books are rare or unpublished and can only be found in the OHS Research Center.
