These documents reflect the results of the SHPO's comprehensive inventory and planning program. Architectural surveys and their subsequent survey report(s) are prepared in accordance with the guidelines in "Architectural/Historic Resources Survey: A Field Guide." The survey reports include property inventories, historic contexts, and annotated bibliographies. Reconnaissance level surveys examine large areas and identify both individual resources and historic districts that warrant further study for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Intensive level surveys look at specific, smaller areas, typically previously identified in reconnaissance level surveys, in order to determine eligibility for inclusion in the National Register. If the intensive level survey determines that an area contains an eligible district, the report will identify specific boundaries and provide a more in-depth historic context.
