George Nigh

(1927- )

Though former governor George Nigh has never described himself as a writer, he has written forewords to several books about Oklahoma and Oklahomans, including A Field Guide to Oklahoma’s Historical Markers (2005) and Will Rogers: American Wordsmith (2010).

Nigh has also figured prominently in books by other Oklahoma authors, most notably Bob Burke’s Good Guys Wear White Hats: The Life of George Nigh (2000). Bob prefaces the biography with a declaration: “No one influenced the course of Oklahoma in the 20th Century more that George Nigh. ”
