Pioneer Woman Museum to Host Holiday Happenings Open House Dec. 9

PONCA CITY, Okla. — The Pioneer Woman Museum in Ponca City, Okla., is pleased to participate in the Ponca City Holiday Happenings on Saturday, Dec. 9.

The museum will host a Holiday Happening Open House from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 9. From 1 to 3 p.m. Mrs. Claus will read Christmas stories to children. Maggi Hutchason, executive director of Dearing House Child Advocacy Center in Ponca City will portray Mrs. Claus. Cookies and hot chocolate will be available for visitors

From 1 to 2 p.m., Dr. Sterling Evans will give a presentation on the Dust Bowl. Dr. Evans is the Louise Welsh Chair in the Department of History at the University of Oklahoma. He is the author of five books and several articles. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kansas.

Harpist Elysia Strauss will be at the museum from 3 to 4:30 p.m. to play holiday music for visitors.

The Pioneer Woman Museum, located at 701 Monument Road in Ponca City. The mission of the Oklahoma Historical Society is to collect, preserve and share the history and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people.
