Holiday Activities at George M. Murrell Home in Park Hill

PARK HILL, Okla. — The George M. Murrell Home has scheduled family holiday activities during the month of December. On Sunday, December 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. the home will host its annual Open House. Visitors will see the Murrell Home and general store decorated for the holiday season and will enjoy cider and snacks while sitting around a roaring fire.

On Saturday, December 16, the Murrell Home will host its monthly Third Saturday event from 1 to 4 p.m. To celebrate the season, participants are invited to make gilded walnut Christmas ornaments. During the 19th century, people would hollow out English walnuts and place a piece of paper with a drawing on it inside. They would then glue the walnut shut and hang it on the Christmas tree. Later, they would open the walnut to see their “fortune” for the year.

The George M. Murrell Home is located at 19479 E. Murrell Home Road in Park Hill, Okla. For more information on events and admission prices, please call 918-456-2751.
