Fort Towson to Host Seed Preservation Demonstration

FORT TOWSON, Okla. — Fort Towson Historic Site will host a demonstration entitled “Saving Your Seeds” on Saturday, September 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. This presentation is a part of the fort’s Second Saturday Demo series.

“Saving your Seeds” will teach participants how to harvest seeds in the fall to be used for spring planting, different preservation methods and the storage of seed for planting using 1840s technology. Visitors also will learn techniques for putting in a fall garden. Most of the demonstration will take place inside the air-conditioned museum, and heirloom seed packets will be given away.

Fort Towson Historic Site is a division of the Oklahoma Historical Society.
