OKPOP to Host Sugar Free Allstars at Expo

TULSA, Okla. — The Oklahoma Museum of Popular Culture (OKPOP), a project of the Oklahoma Historical Society, will host the dynamic musical duo Sugar Free Allstars at the second annual Tulsa Pop Culture Expo on Saturday, November 3. The band will play a one-hour concert at 1:30 p.m. in the OKPOP exhibit located in Madrid 1 at the Renaissance Hotel.

The Sugar Free Allstars are living examples of the mission of OKPOP. The Oklahoma-based singing group has been recognized by Time and People magazine as well as National Public Radio. In addition, the group had a song included in the compilation album “All About Bullies Big and Small,” which won the Grammy for Best Children’s Album in 2011.

OKPOP is dedicated to telling the story of the creativity of Oklahoma’s people and their influence on popular culture around the world. It will be a new visitor experience that explores the incredible history and creativity of Oklahoma’s contributions to popular culture in the areas of music, movies, television, radio, theater, pop art, literature, comics, humor and Route 66. Some of the Oklahomans who will be featured at OKPOP include Will Rogers, Bob Wills, Joan Crawford, Gene Autry, Leon Russell, Reba McEntire, S. E. Hinton, Garth Brooks, Wes Studi, Alfre Woodard, James Marsden, Carrie Underwood and Kristin Chenoweth, among countless others. OKPOP will break ground in 2019.

OKPOP is a division of the Oklahoma Historical Society. The mission of the Oklahoma Historical Society is to collect, preserve and share the history and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people. Founded in 1893 by members of the Territorial Press Association, the OHS maintains museums, historic sites and affiliates across the state.
