We are currently closed to the public.
The first priority of the Oklahoma Historical Society is the health and safety of our patrons, volunteers, and staff. We stand with our fellow Oklahomans in the effort to contain the spread of COVID-19. We have closed our sites and affiliates to the public through April 30.
In an effort to minimize gatherings, all OHS-sponsored events are canceled or postponed through May 2, and some events have been canceled beyond that date. We are posting all changes on our events calendar to keep you updated as the situation develops.
Thank you for your support and for being part of the OHS community.
American Battlefield Trust’s annual Park Day *Canceled*
This event has been canceled.
Support Fort Towson Historic Site by participating in the American Battlefield Trust’s Park Day. Volunteers will meet at the site at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, with yard rakes, saws, and gloves to tackle site needs such as clearing brush, painting, and trail maintenance. A crew will also be cleaning interpretive signs. During the course of the day, volunteers will learn site history, and water and snacks will be provided.
Park Day, a hands-on preservation event at Civil War battlefields and historic sites, brings history enthusiasts together in an effort to help keep our nation’s heritage not only preserved, but pristine. The American Battlefield Trust has sponsored Park Day since 1996, and this year will be one of the largest events ever with about 160 sites, nearly 7,000 volunteers, and about 25,000 donated man-hours.
