SUMMARY:Art of the Wish exhibit discussion with co-creators Marn Jensen and Andy Newcom
DESCRIPTION:\nOn Thursday\, March 12\, at 7 p.m.\, co-creators of the exhibit Art of the Wish\, Marn Jensen and Andy Newcom\, will hold an informal meeting with their teammate Julie McFarland at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center (CSRHC) in the J. E. & L. E. Mabee Foundation Gallery. \nThis talk with the co-creators of the exhibit will be a great opportunity for the public to ask questions and learn more about the inspiration for Art of the Wish and the ideas that shaped its content. The informal gathering will be open to the public at no charge. \n“The works in Art of the Wish are composed of several media\, from photography to sculpture\, textile to encaustic\, mixed media to painting\, allowing the ‘wish’ to inspire the direction of each piece. The artists are very intentional about the materials used\, often incorporating repurposed\, found objects that had once been discarded and tossed aside. They scoured thrift malls and flea markets to look for things that were discarded or had ‘vulnerability’ because those characteristics applied to so many of the people they spoke with.” \nArt of the Wish will remain open at the CSRHC through Saturday\, May 23. \nAndy Newcom and Marn Jensen \n\n
