SUMMARY:Christmas Open House
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Christmas the pioneer way at the Sod House Museum on Saturday\, December 9\, from 1 to 3 p.m. Share in the festivities\, including holiday music\, traditional decorations\, and treats prepared by the Friends Group. \nSilver Strings and Friends of Carmon will share their love of music with guests at the Christmas Open House. This group plays folk\, traditional Christmas music\, gospel and country\, and unusual instruments throughout the day. Margaret Goss will perform on the hammered dulcimer\, autoharp\, ancient musical instruments\, bowed psaltery\, and Celtic lap harp. \nThe museum will be decorated for Christmas\, and the Sod House will have traditional 1890s pioneer Christmas decorations on view. The Friends of the Sod House will serve hot cider and cookies. Tickets will be sold for a beautiful queen-size “Friendship Star” quilt (detail seen above) during the event\, and the winner will be announced at 2:30 p.m. Winners need not be present to win! \nThis Christmas Open House is the site’s way of expressing thanks for the dedication and continued support of the museum.
