SUMMARY:History Alive! on the Cherokee Strip with musical group Zoetrope
DESCRIPTION:Step back in time and experience life in the Cherokee Outlet during History Alive! on the Cherokee Strip at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center in Enid. \nOn Saturday\, January 6\, the musical group Zoetrope will play traditional songs of yesteryear during the History Alive! event. \nThe four historic territorial buildings in the Humphrey Heritage Village come to life with reenactors dressed in period clothing from the late 1800s. Attendees can sit at school desks in the Turkey Creek one-room schoolhouse while lessons are taught\, hear a pioneer tale from those tending their shops\, and watch as craftsmen and women work their trades. Visitors can enter the 118-year-old Glidewell Home or stop at the tiny Village Church. Guests can watch and participate in the different skills and trades of the time or file their own land claim at the historic US Land Office. \nZoetrope is Wayne and Brenda Cantwell who perform traditional American old time and Celtic music. Wayne has been performing and teaching Traditional American Old Time and Celtic music using fiddle\, 5 string clawhammer banjo\, and mountain dulcimer in and around Oklahoma for over 30 years. In 2019 Brenda got in on the act with spoons\, bones\, and limberjack clog dolls. \n
