SUMMARY:Museum After Dark: Village Sounds featuring Gus Burns
DESCRIPTION:\n\nOn Friday\, August 9\, from 7 to 9 p.m.\, the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center (CSRHC) will welcome musician Gus Burns as the featured guest for another meeting of its “Museum After Dark: Village Sounds” series. The CSRHC will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the day of his concert. \nThe CSRHC interprets history using historical evidence as a guide\, and present-day musicians are authentic storytellers. Village Sounds\, a “Museum After Dark” experience at the CSRHC\, is a chance to explore authentic stories of Oklahoma from the perspective of the state’s songwriters and performers. \nMuseum After Dark events take place at the Village Church on the grounds of the Humphrey Heritage Village. The church becomes an intimate listening room for various musicians to share their songs and stories. The whole center will remain open for the duration\, so visitors can also explore the CSRHC exhibits. \nAbout the Artist: \nGus Burns is a singer-songwriter from Caldwell\, Kansas\, who has cut his teeth from Kansas City down to Texas\, but most recently\, he made a name for himself in the Oklahoma music scene. His musical style is one of honest lyrics that come from the heart and relate to his audience\, blended with a honky-tonk attitude cultivated from years of playing beer joints and dive bars. With roots in Red Dirt and traditional country\, Gus is bringing back the classic Americana sound that music fans have been missing and are so captivated by. He is a hard-living troubadour\, and his songs reflect stories of good times\, heartbreak\, and love lost. \nThe concert is free of charge\, in addition to admission to the CSRHC. CSRHC or the Oklahoma Historical Society members always visit the center for free. \n \n\n\n\n
