SUMMARY:Museum OKademy volunteer training class and lecture
DESCRIPTION:The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center (CSRHC) will host a six-session Museum OKademy course in 2023 to train volunteers and provide lectures on history. The classes will be held from 9 to 11 a.m.\, beginning on Saturday\, January 21\, and concluding on Saturday\, April 1. \nThe six-part lecture/workshop series\, Museum OKademy\, will be led by CSRHC Director Jake Krumwiede\, CSRHC Director of Education Neal Matherne\, and other CSRHC staff. These classes are aimed at both prospective volunteers and other adult learners who wish to broaden their knowledge base about the history of northwest Oklahoma\, as well as documents\, photographs\, and other resources available at the center. \nReserve your spot below or email neal.matherne@history.ok.gov for more information. Attendance is limited so please contact us as soon as possible. Classes are free with regular museum admission. Learn more about museum archives and research libraries\, and how they are different from museum artifact collections and lending libraries\, with a behind-the-scenes look at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center’s research center.10 a.m. – Part Two: “The Economies of Northwestern Oklahoma” (History Lecture)Many different industries made up the historical region known as the Cherokee Outlet. This lecture provides a general overview of major industries in the area\, with some detail into some of the more interesting stories of commerce in northwestern Oklahoma. \n  \n \n
