SUMMARY:Poetry reading and discussion with award-winning poet Ken Hada
DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, March 5\, at 7 p.m.\, Western Heritage Award-Winning poet Ken Hada will share poems from his books The Way of the Wind\, Contour Feathers\, and Come Before Winter. \n \nKen Hada is a poet and professor at East Central University in Ada\, where he directs the annual Scissortail Creative Writing Festival. Ken finds the natural rhythms of nature a powerful inspiration for his writing. He has been recognized as a six-time finalist for the Oklahoma Book Awards and received the 2022 Oklahoma Book Award. Hada won the 2017 SCMLA Poetry Prize and was featured in The Writer’s Almanac.  In 2017\, he gratefully accepted the Glenda Carlile Distinguished Service Award from the Oklahoma Center for the Book. Hada’s book Spare Parts received the Wrangler Award for outstanding poetry from the National Western Heritage Museum. Four selections from that book were featured on Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac. \nHada is well-respected throughout the state and beyond as an accomplished poet. His website kenhada.org offers a full curriculum vitae with other relevant information. Hada finds few things as pleasurable as reading poetry to a group and following up with discussion and/or a workshop. \nThis talk is hosted by the Western Trail Historical Society. \n
