SUMMARY:Something to Grow About: Earth Day Native Plant and Seed Swap
DESCRIPTION:Gardeners and eco-enthusiasts will delight in the celebration of Earth Day at the Pawnee Bill Ranch on Saturday\, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  A native plant swap\, a seed buffet\, and loads of gardening tips\, tricks\, and activities will be a part of the “Something to Grow About” event. \nJoin in sharing plants and seeds. Participants are encouraged to bring labeled seeds and plants for the swap. Agricultural experts will be available to teach about planting techniques\, native pollinators\, plants\, and seeds. Visitors can learn to build a plant press\, learn about soil types\, and discover natural plant dyes. Children’s activities include a coloring table\, craft table\, and much more hands-on fun. Guests can enter the “Bug\, Bird\, and Bat House Contest!” \nVisitors can spend the day on the 500-acre grounds that include Pawnee Bill and his wife May’s 14-room mansion\, the original ranch blacksmith shop\, a 1903 log cabin\, a large barn built in 1926 and a fishing pond for kids. Guests can also drive through the pasture that’s home to dozens of bison and longhorns. The ranch is also home to two draft horses\, Dexter and Dallas\, who arrived in Oklahoma in January. \n“Something to Grow About” is free to attend\, but guests must pay admission to tour the mansion. There will be a water bottle filling station available. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and use the picnic facilities on site \nSponsored by Gardens on Blue Hawk Peak\, Pawnee Seed Preservation Society\, Pawnee Bill Ranch and Museum\, and the Pawnee Nation Agricultural Research and Development Department. \n \n
