DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, February 6\, at 7 p.m.\, the Museum of the Western Prairie will welcome author Sidney Thompson. He will present a book discussion of The Forsaken and The Dead (2023)\, the third book in his Bass Reeves Trilogy. \nThompson is returning to Altus to present this popular trilogy’s third and final book and to share his experiences working as a consultant on the Lawmen: Bass Reeves Paramount+ mini-series. \nThe Western Trail Historical Society is hosting this presentation. \n \n \nAward-winning author Sidney Thompson is also the author of Follow the Angels\, Follow the Doves: The Bass Reeves Trilogy\, Book One (2020)\, and Hell on the Border: The Bass Reeves Trilogy\, Book Two (2021). \nThe Bass Reeves Trilogy is an award-winning trilogy of historical novels narrating the life of one of America’s greatest heroes\, and one of the most unique: a former slave who became the most legendary lawman of the Old West. The first two books serve as the inspiration for the upcoming Paramount+ miniseries “Lawmen: Bass Reeves\,” directed by Taylor Sheridan of “Yellowstone” fame and starring David Oyelowo\, who starred as Martin Luther King\, Jr.\, in “Selma.” \n
