SUMMARY:Lunch and Learn: "US Fish & Wildlife Service Historic Resources at the Treasure Lake Job Corps Center" webinar
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, April 12\, at noon (Central Time)\, the State Historic Preservation Office will host a webinar focused on the US Fish & Wildlife Service Historic Resources at the Treasure Lake Job Corps Center. \nThe United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) plans to revert the Treasure Lake Job Corps Center\, located in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge\, to a more natural state\, consistent with the agency’s mission. In 2022\, after commissioning a historic building survey\, USFWS determined the Treasure Lake Job Corps Center was eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. USFWS is in the process of mitigating the adverse effects of demolition on this property. The current presentation will discuss the history of the Job Corps program and the Treasure Lake Job Corps Center as well as the history of this project and ongoing mitigation efforts. \nGeorge MacDonell\, archaeologist and regional historic preservation officer of the US Fish and Wildlife Service; Natalie Sanford\, regional archaeologist\, US Fish and Wildlife Service; and Kristina Wyckoff will be sharing in the presentation. \nRegister for the webinar. \n \nThe first Job Corps members arriving in Oklahoma. \n
