SUMMARY:Will Rogers Afternoon Frolic at Circle Cinema
DESCRIPTION:The Will Rogers Memorial Museum and Circle Cinema have teamed up to present Will Rogers Afternoon Frolic on Saturday\, April 5. The afternoon includes a double feature of Will Rogers films\, lunch with Ike’s Chili\, and roping demonstrations. Doors open at Circle Cinema at 11 a.m.\, and the movies start at 1 p.m. \nThe chosen films are State Fair (1933)\, followed by the silent movie Ropin’ Fool (1922)\, accompanied by a live organ played by Bill Rowland. Before showtime\, visitors can make their own rope and learn a rope trick. Lunch will be available for purchase from Ike’s Chili. \nJennifer Rogers Etcheverry will speak before the movies about her recent trip to view the charred remains of Will Rogers’s ranch house and barn at the Will Rogers Historic State Park in California. \nTo create an event that truly embodies the spirit of Will Rogers\, Ike’s Chili will have its famous chili available for lunch. Ike’s was one of Will Rogers’ personal favorites. In fact\, Will Rogers often talked about his love of chili\, or ‘chili con carne’ as he called it. While recovering from surgery\, he wrote\, “I sure do love my chili. If I could have just bogged down to a few bowls of good old greasy chili\, I would have been well in a week.” \n“We are thrilled to partner with the Will Rogers Memorial Museum to celebrate an Oklahoma legend and bring these movies back to the big screen\,” said Ryan Thomas\, Circle Cinema Programmer. “It’s a perfect opportunity to learn why Will Rogers’ legacy has endured\, whether you’re an adult revisiting some classic favorites or a kid experiencing the magic of his movies and wit for the first time.” \nSpecial ticket pricing for this event is $7 for adults and $5 for children.
