Tim Tharp

(1957– )

Though Tim Tharp launched his writing career with the literary novel, Falling Dark (1999), he has since established himself as one of the country’s most respected authors of young adult fiction. In 2008, his book The Spectacular Now, was a finalist for the National Book Award. Like all of Tim’s stories, it is gritty as well as entertaining. The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books describes it as "A sobering look at the rationalizations of a teenage alcoholic.”

The novel is also being adapted as a major motion picture. Filming began in the summer of 2012.
