John Wooley

(1949– )

A veteran journalist, John Wooley has covered a wide range of topics, not only in his newspaper career, but also in his books. First and foremost a cultural historian, he has celebrated the state’s musical legacy with his landmark retrospective, From the Blue Devils to Red Dirt: The Colors of Oklahoma Music (2006). He has also honored Oklahoma’s unique contributions to film with a similar study, Shot in Oklahoma: A Century of Sooner State Cinema, 2011.

Additionally, John, the biographer of Wes Craven, is an expert on horror films and literature and has written several novels in the genre.
