The Texas County OHCE was formed September 28, 1950, as the Tyrone Home Demonstration Club. An article in the Hooker Advance dated Thursday, October 5, 1950, acknowledges the formation of this Extension group at the home of Mrs. Charles Simmons. The organization was conducted by the new home demonstration agent, Miss VaRue Morgan with five members. Organizing members were Mrs. Charles Simmons, President; Mrs. Fred Livingston, Vice President; Mrs. Eldon Kilgore, Secretary-treasurer. Other organizing members were Mrs. J. B. Mapp and Mrs. Merle Bevan.
