Monogrammed Brick Stories

Orval and Mary Moore, Rick and Bill

Submitted by Bill Moore

My parents, Orval and Mary Moore, were part of that greatest generation, returning from World War II, working at Tinker and FAA, and raising two boys during the Baby Boomer years. Dad was born in 1927 and raised in McCurtain County during the Great Depression. When he turned 18 in March 1945, and became a member of the US Army, the end of the war was in sight. After serving in Germany, he returned to a career in Civil Service in Oklahoma City. Mom was born and raised in Oklahoma City, graduating from Capitol Hill High School in 1949. She loved her school and the activities associated with it. She married Dad in 1950 and they raised us in the Del City area, living on an acreage near Tinker's runway.
