Edward Prenter Adams (1874–1950) was born in Rusk County, Texas. He moved to Hollis in 1911 where he first lived in a dugout. He was a teacher. Edward was married to Rexie Udora Paine (1881–1966). Their children were: Jewel, Erby Edward, Martin, Opal, Oswald, Jack and Joe Frank. Edward owned and managed the Adams Cotton Gin for many years. Rexie was a midwife. Both were outstanding, caring citizens helping those in need. Known for their generosity, Edward and Rexie were very involved with The First Methodist Church in Hollis which was founded in 1901.
