John Howard McManus, Sr. & Anna Naomi McManus

John Howard McManus of Sparta, IL, was a young man working his way West. Oklahoma City was to be but one leg on his goal: California. However, he met Naomi Baxter and that changed his plans. They married in Sep 1907. His father-in-law required them to make their home with them as a condition of the marriage. Howard started his business, Mac's Saw & Knife Works, and operated it for over 30 years. Following WWII, Howard died in Knoxville, TN, while returning from vacation. Naomi died 5 mo. later. They are buried alongside Naomi's parents in Fairlawn Cemetery, Oklahoma City.
